Here other variations of the originally 11-circuit original. If one wants to reduce the circuits of the Chartres type, different ways are possible.
One can leave out, for example, the two outermost circles. Then it looks like this:

A historical example is the labyrinth in the inner courtyard of the Munich city hall. Though it is octagonal, the path sequence corresponds to the 9-circuit type on show.

And again the high quality of the original appears. Also without barriers we will get a fully operational classical labyrinth:
Till present I have nowhere seen a labyrinth of this type. Who wants to build the first one?
Is there one more variation of the 9-circuit Chartres type? Yes, because I can also leave out two innermost circles. Then it looks like this:

Again there is a historical example, the Hilton turf maze. The internal rings have presumably disappeared as time passed when the labyrinth was cut anew or restored.
