Standing Eagle participated in November 2007 as a speaker at the symposium “healing” on the Benediktushof. He held a lecture and led a workshop. I had the occasion to become acquainted with him and I could win him for a photo at the labyrinth.
Here what I found about him on the Internet:
Standing Eagle was born 1935 in Cruz Pagoso, Colorado. He studied on the universities of Regis and Denver and graduated in art, philosophy and literature. For 29 years he was active as teacher and councellor in the public schools of Denver. He worked with young people, who suffered from chronic depressions and drug dependence. Furthermore he was lecturing at the university of Valladolid and Alicante. His further activities were many training courses and workshops in Barcelona and world-wide. He is the author of many books, which appeared in Spain and the USA.
Standing Eagle’s grandmother, a strong woman of the Tewa tribe, initiated standing Eagle in earliest childhood into the knowledge of the age-old mysteries. The work of standing Eagle is the result of those unusual episodes in his life, which began with this initiation. Approximately 20 years ago on the occasion of a ritual he was named “Standing Eagle” and since then he is active as shaman. He lives today as native American “medicine person” (as he says himself) in Santa Fe/New Mexico.
Standing Eagle shares his knowledges in a natural and humorous way with us, without making a dogma out of it or using cryptic words. His lectures and workshops are characterized by affecting stories and cordialness.
The shamanic techniques and rituals, that Standing Eagle teaches in his seminars have the goal to use the own potential to be able to lead a fulfilled and harmonious life in clarity and in consciousness to be a part of the whole.
I still remember a statement of him, which he got from his grandmother as a child on the way:
The river always moves and it is always still.
